Course Summary

Our Social Media Workshop is a full-on one day programme which helps you go from zero to hero in the world of social media. This is our most popular course with well over 100 attendees to date. The course covers everything you need to get started with social media and is designed to be both interactive and practical. 

The course will give you all the knowledge you need to choose which social media platforms are right for you, how and why you should use them and will help you start to define a social media strategy for your own organisation.

Course Content

The course will cover everything you need to understand and get started with social media:

Introduction – History of the world wide web and a look at the variety of social media platforms that currently exist. Study of a model to understand how social media works.

Traditional Marketing and Social Media – (task) list your current marketing activities and consider the impact that social media will have on them.

Strategy – (task) we guide you through the process of defining your target audience along with determining your core objectives. This will form the basis of a social strategy and assist with recognising which social platforms will work best for you.

Social media and SEO – find out the basics of how search engine optimisation works and the different options available including Google adwords. Learnt how to optimise your web/article content using targeted keywords and understand how the use of platforms such as twitter assists with SEO.
 
Exploring Facebook – a study of facebook, who uses it, who it works best for and what you can do with it. We will go through the basic setup of a business page, using facebook applications to add content and how to use iframes to generate a welcome page.
 
Exploring Linkedin – a study of LinkedIn, who uses it, who it works best for and what you can do with it. We will go through the basic setup of a profile and look at how to integrate applications to present your RSS feeds, articles, documents, polls, your blog, presentations, twitter stream and multimedia content. We will also look at company pages and learn how to set up a fully optimised company page, including adding products and services, links, YouTube videos and showcasing your company with images & links on the ‘spotlight’ carousel. Finally we will take a look at LinkedIn Groups – finding and joining relevant groups, posting comments and starting discussions.
 
Exploring Twitter – an in-depth study of twitter, who uses it, who it works best for and what you can do with it. We will look at different styles of twitter accounts, branding and how to set up an engaging twitter profile. Then: who will tweet? Company policy and monitoring of staff, twitter applications Tweetdeck and Hootsuite, mobile apps, twitter terminology, the use of @, RT, DM & #Hashtags, social protocol, who to follow, different styles of tweets, abbreviations and how to build a robust audience.

The course includes a folder containing the course notes and CD of the powerpoint presentation for future reference.
